Sarcastic DownwardFind Out More

Being the resolutely non-medical term used to sub-poetically denote the physical manifestation of failing to meet the hideous depths of the varied vulgarities of the outside world with all the weaponry of one's sarcasm, and simultaneously failing to transcend one's own inner world above, through and beyond and outside one's own physical form. Yeah.

It is also the debut self-released full-length album by international muzak heroes

The
Contortionists
. It features ten original compositions, five of which were recorded live in ze studio in New Cross by arch-bastard Simon Chandler, the other five of which were recorded by band-leader Adam Garside in bedrooms, hallways, toilets and living room areas across South East London. It has met with resounding silence from the critical intelligentsia, music-downloading fanatics and the average cunt on the street, as was the original intention.

Fascinating trivia regarding the recording of The Stomach-Pump Blues...
The album lasts the exact amount of time it takes to hunt, kill and roast a good-sized chicken.
David Bowie popped into the studio unannounced at one point to inform The Contortionists that they were his new favourite band, and to ask if any backing vocals were required on the album. He was duly informed to "get fucked, Ziggy Fartdust."
The entire album was recorded under the influence of narcotics such as wacky tobaccy, pills and many pints of cocaine.
Approximately seventeen and a half ego-driven arguments occurred during the recording. The most commonly recurring topic of disagreement was use of the cowbell.
On the second day of recording, while working on the final guitar tracks to be laid down on "She Makes My Mouth Wet To Vomit", Joe made a joke. It wasn't very funny.
